Four New Citibins Bring Clean Curbs to 82nd Street

As part of the NYC Clean Curbs initiative, we have installed Citibins in 4 locations, split equally between Jackson Heights and Elmhurst. The program’s goal is to remove trash bags from the sidewalk and reduce the City’s rodent population. We hope that it will also reduce illegal dumping!

Our Sanitation Team at Work

The Partnership has been providing supplementary sanitation services along the 82nd Street commercial district since 1990. Our Sanitation crew sweeps the sidewalks, maintains 28 trash receptacles (City & BID-owned), removes graffiti, and cleans tree pits. On average, we collect 67 large garbage bags daily! Until the Citibins arrived, those bags were placed in the corner for Sanitation pickup.

In keeping with our goal to provide our patrons, workers, and residents with a clean and welcoming neighborhood, we have entered into a maintenance agreement with the City’s Department of Sanitation to regularly clean and power wash the Citibins.

Please Help Us Keep the Neighborhood Clean

The Citibins are intended to store garbage collected by the BID’s sanitation crew only. Businesses, residents, and street vendors are prohibited from dumping trash at any of these locations. Do not litter, and report any illegal dumping to 311.

The Citibins’ anti-graffiti wrapping was designed by the talented Manny Arranz (@inkreadabletaste), a proud Queens resident.
