2025 Annual Meeting of the 82nd Street Partnership

Join us for the 82nd Street Partnership's Annual Meeting of 2025 on Tuesday, June 24 at the offices of Apicha Community Health Center (basement level of 82-11 37th Ave). We will meet to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year and discuss what’s to come for 82nd Street over the next 12 months.

BID property owners, commercial tenants, businesses, and residents within the boundaries of the Business Improvement District who wish to vote at the meeting must register by Friday, June 13, 2025. Property owners, commercial tenants, businesses, and residents must register in order to vote at this meeting.

On-site check-in begins at 9:30 am. The meeting starts at 10:00 am followed by a reception with light fare. Register and RSVP here.

Acompáñenos a la Reunión Anual 2025 de la Asociación de la Calle 82 el martes, 24 de junio en la 82-11 37th Avenue- sotano (oficinas del Centro de Salud Comunitario Apicha ). Nos reuniremos para celebrar los logros del año pasado y hablar sobre el futuro de la Calle 82 en los próximos 12 meses.

Propietarios, inquilinos comerciales, y residentes del Distrito de Mejoramiento Comercial (BID por sus siglas en Ingles) que deseen votar en la reunión deben registrarse antes del viernes 13 de junio del 2025. The annual parade honors the “First cry of Independence” in America, which took place in Quito, Ecuador, in August 10, 1809, beginning that nation's and the South American continent's efforts to gain independence from their Spanish and Portuguese colonial rulers. The parade will include live music and entertainment.

PERUVIAN DAY

July 28th commemorates the liberation of Peru from Spain by José de San Martin, the most famous liberator of Latin America aside from the Liberator himself, Simón Bolívar. The following day, July 29th celebrates establishment of the Republic of Perú. Together these two days are called Las Fiestas Patrias and are by far the most important national holidays in Peru.

Colombian Day Parade

Hundreds of Colombian Americans danced through the streets of Jackson Heights, Queens on Sunday for the annual Colombian Independence Day Parade.

CBS New York's Hannah Kliger was along Northern Boulevard to introduce us to some of the groups who work with the community behind the celebration.

It's a celebration of more than 200 years of independence from Spanish rule.

"Celebrate the freedom of Colombia. Our people are really happy," New Haven, Conn. resident Marcela Rua told Kliger.

It's also a display of the richness and beauty of Colombian culture.

Festival De Las Flores

The Flowers Festival

(Spanish: Feria de las Flores) is a festival that takes place in Medellín, Colombia. The annual festival is a significant driver of tourism and holds importance to the cultural fabric of the city. In addition to various flower display-oriented events and contests, the festival includes musical performances, an antique car parade, and an 11km bike ride. It is estimated that the Flowers Festival annually attracts more than two million people to the city, and the event cost the city around $3.6 million to organize in 2019.
